Check Out what Regional Rep, Liz Brough wrote about last year's Southwest-Youth-Only Retreat: This year’s YMJA Southwest Retreat was an amazing experience for me. As we began to drive up the mountain to the Camp Maranatha Retreat Center, I was reminded of a phrase in one of Paul Wilbur’s songs which says “Come let us go up to the mountain, come let us go up to the Lord”. Those words accurately express how I felt about the upcoming retreat. Being in the mountains always makes me feel closer to God, but during the retreat I was blessed to see my peers really reach out to God and truly come into his presence. The worship was wonderful, but it was the teachings that really impacted me. Not only did I see the teens actively listening, but I could really feel that they were really taking in the messages. Although I was a leader at this retreat, I felt that my main role was to be a prayer warrior throughout the weekend. It was such a humbling experience to be able to pray for my fellow teens! For me, the retreat was a time when I believe that I fully realized the mercy of God. Overall, I was very pleased by the retreat, and I can’t wait to go next year! Southwest Regional Conference: Date: February 13-15, 2009 Location: Irvine, California Hear these Teens' Experiences from last year's conference: "I know many lives were changed at the South West Regional Conference. Through every message God spoke to someone
whether it was to keep on worshiping or that its not as hard as you think to have freedom from sin. The worship was amazing
on so many levels even if you weren't a musician or dancer. In one of the sessions, we discovered what you spiritual gifts were
and all the youth came out with more direction of what their good at. Last but not least, you can always meet new incredible
friends or become closer to old ones." ~ Rachelle Krebs
"Shalom! I went to the conference in the southwest region this year for the first time, and I loved it! I was so blessed by all the teachings and the people. I come from a small town in California so there are not many people my age that believe the same way I do. It was really encouraging to meet so many great people that believe like me!! During the youth program, we were able to go on an outing. I enjoyed going to the Pacific Aquarium in Long Beach. I really enjoyed the dance workshops because it’s a great way to worship G-d!!! This Conference was such a blessing to me and I can’t wait to come next year!! I hope I see you there!" ~Sydney Thompson. Southwest Regional Representatives: Contact Sharon Robbins at Sharon@ymja.org
